How Do I Never Run Out Of Ideas To Write About?

An Unorthodox Way

When I first started out on Twitter as a creator, I didn’t know what to write.

I posted random BS and didn’t have any good ideas to write about.

I didn’t know what niche to focus on and who to write to.

Like me, every creative must go through a phase of idea starvation in order to find their voice and what content they want to speak about.

Most people get stuck in the phase of “finding their niche” and never take action until they figure it out.

Generating quality ideas that do well as content has not been a struggle for me in the better part of this year.

Because of that, I’ve written more than 4.5k+ posts in the last 6 months.

How did I develop my creativity and create unique content that is tailored to my life and offer?

How to create the depth that’s needed to create a loyal fanbase rather than degenerate followers who like every post they see?

Let’s see first about what prevented me from being creative:

The State Of Modern Social Media

99% of content on social media is just regurgitated information with no depth and value that should come behind it.

To create great content, you need to consume great content.

Content with depth and clarity.

But all these social-media algorithms have made you addicted to short-form content with no substance and value.

It strips away your mental clarity, creativity, and attention span.

How can anyone generate quality ideas when all they watch is girls twerking in front of a screen?

Snapchat makes you addicted to a literal f*cking emoji.

Instagram is basically Pornhub lite these days.

Facebook is for boomers discussing world politics and pushing their agenda.

Twitter (X) and YouTube are the only 2 platforms that I find genuinely useful to gain knowledge and meet high-performing people.

These have their downsides as well. It depends on which echo chamber you put yourself into.

Now that you know which social media to focus on, how to actually start getting creative ideas everyday?

Unlimited Idea Generation

To create great content, you need to consume great content.

This typically involves long-form content such as:

  • Books

  • Podcasts

  • YT lectures

  • Audiobooks

  • Articles & blogs

But overloading your brain with information leads to more harm than good.

Limit yourself to 1-2 long-form episodes to watch each day.

Have a commonplace book or a database (I use Notion) where you can store your ideas. Ideas come when you least expect it, so note them down before they fade off from your mind.

Start taking long walks without technology to let your mind process all the information you learn.

Your mind works best when you’re in a state of rest, not in a state of work.

Limit your working hours and increase your rest hours so that your mind can be a creative machine.

Let’s bring everything together and tell you about my system for idea generation:

The Creative Idea Generator

This is how I create my content in a creative way on any topic I choose to talk about:

  • Choose 2-3 interests you want to talk about.

  • Consume content in the form of long YT lectures, books, podcasts, and audiobooks.

  • Have a database where you can store your incoming ideas. (Whenever an idea interests me when I’m consuming content, I note it down in my database)

  • Concentrate on rest more than work.

  • Start thinking of everything that happens in your life as a story to be told.

You come across 100s of ideas everyday, you are just not aware of it.

In every single day of your life:

  • There is a story to be told.

  • There is a lesson to be learned.

  • There is a breakthrough that you’ll pull off.

Look out for them.

Schedule time just to think, contemplate, and write.

Keep thinking and I’ll see you next week.

Have a great weekend.
