Vision: The Compass For Your Aimless Life

The Secret To Always Be Motivated

Most people are directionless in life.

They do what they’re told to do. They’ve never searched for the thing they truly want.

They don’t have a vision for their life.

I hear so many people complaining that they’re not motivated to work.

It’s not like they don’t have motivation. They don’t have the intrinsic drive which is a result of having a clear future to look forward to.

You Need A Vision

Your vision is your compass.

The purpose of your vision is to pull the energy from a future potential reality. Some think of this as motivation, but vision is different. Vision is intrinsic. It creates a foundation for complete alignment of your daily actions and choices.

Although some individuals may consider motivation and vision to be similar, the two concepts are totally distinct.

From childhood, you were told what goals to have. The goals you’re working towards now may not lead you to the vision you want. In most cases, you don’t even have a potential future to look forward to.

This is why most people are miserable in their 30s because they didn’t know what future they wanted. They are stuck with what their NPC mind led them to.

Now you know why a vision is needed. But how do you create it?

Craft Your Vision

Questioning what your ideal future should look like is your starting point for crafting your vision.

Take your time and answer these questions.

Be as specific and descriptive as possible with these questions. Think deeply. Dig into past experiences, vacations, and aspirational mentors that you have encountered.

Pay close attention to the experience associated with each of these rather than the material.

  1. If you had all of the money in the world, what would your average day look like?

  2. What kind of environment do you want to live in? Specific location? Do you want to travel? Be descriptive.

  3. Do you want a family? What do you want that life to look like? Visualize an average day of family time.

  4. How long of a workday do you want to have? If you could do anything, what would you do for work?

  5. How do you want to look and feel? Dad bod or shredded? Low energy or high energy? Do you want long or short hair? Highly driven or lowly motivated?

  6. What kind of car do you want to drive? Do you want to live in a house or apartment? Big plot of land or in the city?

  7. List out anything else that comes to mind in terms of a specific future that you want to build for yourself.

Craft Your Anti-Vision

Life is a duality. Every great story has an enemy. Every entrepreneur is working away from something they hate.

You’ll be working against your anti-vision. Reminding yourself of your worst-case future will motivate you to work for your vision.

Again, be specific with these questions. Take your time to brainstorm with it:

  1. What is the bane of your existence?

  2. Write out the opposite of your vision. How do you not want to look? Where do you not want to live? What do you not want to do for work?

Create Your Brand Vision (For Creators)

If you’re running a personal brand, having a vision of how your brand should look will get you to that reality.

Again, be specific with these questions. This is an iterative process. Nothing is set in stone. Your vision will have multiple iterations.

  1. How do you want to speak? With what tone? With how much depth? Articulation? You can write down the names of people that you aspire to be like here.

  2. What are your favorite colors? Why are they your favorite colors? What do they represent — research this — and is that the vibe you are trying to put off?

  3. How do you want to feel at any moment, no matter the emotion you face? This is what you will be trying to make others feel.

This will be your first draft of your life vision. Work towards it. Remind yourself of your vision everyday. Write down the answers and stick it to the wall you see everyday.

And if you feel this vision you just created is not the ideal future you want:

Go through these questions again and see where it takes you.

That’s it from me today.

Enjoy your week.
